Butte-Glenn Community College District is pleased to offer a comprehensive benefits package for employees and eligible family members.  There are minimal if any out-of-pocket expenses to full time employees for monthly premiums. Part time Classified employees receive basic life insurance that is provided by the District and may elect and pay a pro rated premium for medical, dental, vision and income protection coverage.  Coverage is effective the first day of the month following the date of hire. Plans with a lower cost are available. Employees who opt for a lower cost plan will receive the difference as taxable income on their payroll checks.

The benefit package includes Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, Income Protection, Voluntary Supplemental Insurance and Employee Assistance Program, membership in either the State Teachers' or the Public Employees' Retirement System (CalPERS), a Section 125 Flexible Spending plan, and additional retirement savings options through 403(b) and/or 457 plans (CalSTRS).

Contact Human Resources immediately to report any change in dependent status. A new child must be added within 31 days of birth.  A spouse or registered domestic partner must be added within 31 days of marriage or the issuance of a Declaration of Domestic Partnership by the State of California, or a similar declaration issued by another state. Dependents will be removed from benefits at the age of 26. Apouse or registered domestic parter must be removed within 31 days of termination of marriage or registered domestic partnership.

Butte College is a part of the Butte Schools Self-Funded Programs (BSSP) for our Medical, Dental, and Vision Plans. The BSSP has Health and Wellness Clinics located in Chico and Oroville that are available to all eligible participants and their dependents. Please visit the website at: www.bsspjpa.org/hwc

Benefits open enrollment is held each year from mid April to mid July. During this time employees are may certify dependents and may make changes to their medical plan. Employees may also purchase additional life insurance, and initiate or renew Section 125 Flexible Spending (FSA) plans and Voluntary Supplemental Insurance.
